c - GtkCellRendererText ellipsis causes text to completely dissapear -

i have gtktreeview hooked gtkliststore, gtkcellrenderertext that's on it's own in column, column set expand.

however renderer occupying max width of 3 characters, plenty ellipsis...

while, , after editing text:

did create window gtkbuilder? might this bug rearing ugly head again...
